In the picturesque red rock hills of southeastern Utah is the spectacular hideaway called Red Mountain Spa. A perfect destination for re-connecting with oneself. Tucked away at the base of Snow Canyon, Red Mountain Spa is best described like summer camp for those who like adventure. Summer camp, of course, with a phenomenal spa, delicious spa cuisine, and all of the accoutrements of a resort.
The surroundings are mystical and the property well designed. Red Mountain is a great place to travel alone or with friends and family. It is a bit more rugged and down to earth than other destination spas, which makes it attractive for those seeking outdoor adventure. Red Mountain is an affordable option for a peaceful yet active retreat.
The grounds are all red adobe structures. Trails weave in and out of the grounds with small pools, waterfalls, gardens of succulents and other desert plants. In valley of black lava, on the grounds of the property, is a large stone labyrinth. A large spiral made of grey rocks used to balance energy for those who walk in and out of the spiral from the outer circle to the central core.
The rooms are comfortable and designed with an extended stay in mind. The bathroom is large and features a soaking tub. Bathroom products are a delicious scent of Yuzu Bergamot for an uplifting effect.
Hiking is a core focus at the spa. Hikes leave every morning with a vast selection of trails and group hikes for all levels. Daily activities are abundant with features such as cooking courses, fitness classes, meditation, yoga, Pilates and more.
Activities are organized so that no two days (in a week visit) are ever the same. Weekly day trips include all-day hiking and biking adventures to Bryce National Park and Zion National park, a short journey from the property.
One of the most unusual offerings is a evening yoga class out on the red rock cliffs of snow canyon. This class, called Yoga on the Rocks, is an unbelievable opportunity to practice yoga in the beautiful natural surroundings, wind blowing freely through the canyon.
The spa at Red Mountain, Sagestone Spa, is located in three dome-like structures on the property. The spa is comfortable, designed for maximum relaxation. A large glass window in the relaxation lounge looks out onto the red cliffs of Snow Canyon. The perfect spot to lounge and read and simply be still. Sagestone offers many treatments inspired by practices from the across the globe. Spiritual sessions inspired by Native American traditions, massage inspired by Thai, Chinese, Indian and other cultures. Their signature facial, the Dessert pearl is phenomenal. The Fusion massage was also a highlight, a blend of Thai yoga massage, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and Escalin, this 80 minute treatment transported me to another place altogether.
Meals are served in the Anasazi Canyon room. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style while dinner is served. All meals are included. A community table is available every night for travelers who are seeking company or the opportunity to met others.
Evening activities range from astronomy classes to pottery sessions. Group meditations are held some evenings and early morning hours.
Red Mountain Spa is impressively on top of it. The offerings at this unique destination are comprehensive, fun, educational and transformative. Red Mountain is very well organized and all of the staff is kind and caring. As they say at Red Mountain, enjoy your adventure – and an adventure it truly is.
